Romeo and Juliet review
Romeo and Juliet which is one of classic love story written by Shakespeare, who has been remembered for a long time. He is the one who explores the world of literature and performance. Romeo and Juliet tell us a story about two family's hated leads to their children's death. Romeo as a Montague loves Roseline without getting any returns. However, his strong love to Roseline totally transfers to Juliet. He falls in love with Juliet, who is a Capulet a party. Then ask a Praise whose name is Friar Lawrance to help them get married to each other. One of Romeo's best friends Mercutio's death leads Romeo to kill Tybalt who try to fight with her because of the hatred between two families, because of that, Romeo is punished, and Juliet as a girl who is chosen to marry Paris has to marry him directly. They get a suggestion from Friar Lawrance, but they fail and miss each other. At the end of the story, their fault leads to tragedy, which both of them dead. The two families agree to abolish their hated to each other because of their children's' death. Basically, the story sends us a message, not only which is the romantic love between Romeo and Juliet but also hate will not solve any problems and leads to tragedy. He highlights their love leads to tragedy at the ending of the story.
Then, the staging can be the most worth considerating part. The director highlights some plots and gets rid of the others at the same time. The beginning of the movie is very interesting which is a woman introduces the city and the situation of two families. Also, at the end of the story, the woman appears again and finish her introduction. The ending response the beginning and lead audience think more about the story. One of the important theme that the director highlights is the part, and the first time Romeo and Juliet meet each other. They give the audience that they really fall in love with each other because of the light and music. The background music is a women's romantic singing with slow melody. Even though comparing the light in the party and the place they meet with each other is different, their way to meet is also worth thinking. Through the fish tank, they get eye contact with the romantic music. It seems like they are really falling in love with each other. Light and music are one of the significant elements in the play. The second plot which is impressive is when Juliet is lying on the board. The lights around her shapes a feeling of romantic and death. When Romeo is walling towards Juliet, the background music is the same as their wedding music. It connects with the marriage, which indicates that their love leads to tragedy. Also, the music seems like more depress and upset. When Romeo and Juliet are dead together. The director use their lens to indicates their love, they are lying together, and there are lights around them.
comparing Mercutio and Tybalt, they have somewhere which are similar. For example, both of them leads to violence. Moreover, their personalities are similar in some ways. For example, when Tybalt wants to have a fight with Romeo, Mercutio against him directly. They are not that peaceful. Also, these two character foreshadowing the hated and violence.Their similar personalities lead to the fight between families, and it not only paves the way for the plots, but also for the tragedy which Romeo kill Tybalt for revenging. Juliet as one of my favorite characters in this plots shows us a changing from a little girl into a mature woman. Her love to Romeo provoke her inner power to decide for her life by herself. Her personalities get stronger because of love. At first, when her parents choose her to marry Paris. She pretends that she will think about marriage. However, when she falls in love with Romeo, she threatens Friar Lawrance that she will kill herself if she will marry Paris, and she refuses her parents request which she has been chosen to marry with Friar Lawrance. We can definitely see her change. Moreover, her inner power improves her strength to against her family. Her brave to love impresses me a lot.
