Since Romeo and Juliet are two main roles in the play, so we have to choose them. The reason why I choose Friar Lawrance is that he leads the plot to another way. Or we can say, he paves the way for the tragedy of the ending part. Also, he helps Romeo and Juliet marriage and suggests them a lot. Tybalt represents violence and the hatred between two families. At the same time, I choose Mercutio since these two roles are connected a lot. The fight between them leads Romeo to make the big fault. Since Romeo wants to revenge for Mercutio's death, So he kills Tybalt who kills his best friend. The decision he made under the situation which he is so mad leads the plots to a situation which cannot be controlled. I choose Capulet since he is the man who makes Juliet's change from a little girl to a person who has strong power. His request to Juliet that she was chosen to marry Paris which influences Juliet's perspective to marriage and Paris in some ways. He has an appearance who asks everyone to obey him indicates that the hated between two families was caused by his personalities. Lady Capulet is another role who asks Juliet to marry Paris. At the same time, her request leads Juliet to death. Nurse as a significant role who helps the plots go through. She sends Julie and Romeo's messages to each other which helps them talk with each other. Also, she is the only person who is closed with Juliet in her family. She treats Juliet as her own child. She also gives her some suggestions. Paris is the man who wants to marry Juliet. He has money and power, it seems like he is the best choice for Juliet. However, the irony is Juliet choose Romeo as her love, because of his thoughts of marrying Juliet, It makes their marriage more difficult. If there is no Paris in the show, their love might be easier since no one obstructs them.
I give up Montague, Benvolio, the person who gives drugs to Romeo, since I feel like they are not that important. Montague as Romeo's father just appears in the beginning of the play. He does not give any contribution for the plots. Benvolio as Romeo's cousin always gives some advice to him. However, Mercutio also gives the same suggestions in differ from ways. So I decided to give him up. The other small roles which can describe for one sentence can be given up.
Rose usually used to be a gift from a guy to his love. As a result, I choose Romeo as a rose which indicates he is falling in love with others. Juliet is a red heart which means she loves others at the same time. The essential points for Romeo and Juliet are also their love. Frair Lawrance as a cross signifies his identity and social status. He has some powers as a Priest to help Romeo and Juliet because of her identity. Tybalt as a knife who always have a fight at first and also indicates the hatred between two families.However, I choose Mercutio as a gun since he was killed by a gun. Also, he is the person who fights with Tybalt at that time, his conversation about the two families also indicates that he wants a duel between two families. The nurse is always a light in Juliet's life when she falls in love with Romeo, she does not prevent her, instead of that, she helps them to exchange the message. She always guides the way for Juliet's future. When Juliet is upset about Romeo, she suggests her to marry Paris. Capulet as a person who holds power and wealthy seems like a rock. He gives Juliet a lot of stress about marriage. Under his control, Juliet cannot choose her own life. Lady Capulet gives us a feeling of a wealthy woman who does not care more about her beauty and jewelry instead of her daughter. Prince is a scales between two families who always wants to keep the balance between two families and keep the peace. At the beginning of the plots, he indicates that no more violence due to the hatred between two families. When Tybalt kills Mercutio, while Romeo kills Tybalt, he is not practical to anyone. Also, at the end of the play, he is the person who wants Capulet and Mercutio put their hated down. At last but not least, Paris, as a wealthy person who holds power wants to marry Juliet. The golden rings can best represent his identity.
I think anyone has clear represented objects for my choice. It can best indicate their identity. Also, it draws the first impression for the audience to the roles. Every object I choose best indicates their situation or identity that are clear. They will not misunderstand the roles since every role differs from others.
if I should choose my classmates acting one of the characters. I will choose Helen to act Juliet and Ivan act as Romeo. Since both of their appearances are suitable. Helen's appearance matches Juliet so much which indicates a little girl. She can perform that she change to a girl who holds the strength in her deep heart. Joshua should act the Frair Lawrance since he gives me a feeling of serious. Nan is the best choice for acting Nurse since she is so nice and really knows how to take care of others. Maybe Jasmine can act Lady Capulet since her appearance matches jewelry. Joey can act as Capulet since we have practiced acting. His performance of Capulet is impressive. it is more suitable for David to act Prince.
