review of Romeo and juliet

  In our group Romeo and Juliet modern language version, Jasmine wrote the story about the love between human and Vampire, which represents two families' hated that defends Romeo and Juliet's love. During our recording time, we faced lots of challenges which we finally solved. The party scene as one of the most significant parts of our story took us so many times not only for lights but also for the background music. Romeo and Juliet met each other during the party and they fall in love with Romeo. There is one detail which worth mentioning. Romeo as a quiet vampire among humans refused Juliet's request for dancing together for the first time because of his identity which he should leave away from humans. However, he still accepts that suggestion since he is attracted by Juliet so much. LIght and background music is the most important elements of the party scene. As a result, when Juliet is dancing with her friend, we used club songs which is more suitable for the party. Also, when Juliet is dancing with her friend, the light is dark blue and changing more frequently. The rotating lens implies the different between Juliet's party with her friends and her dance with Romeo When Juliet has eye contact with Romeo, the light changes immediately, it changes to warm bright light which highlights their eye contact. At the same time, the background music changes to romantic songs named "I will always love you". The song not only indicates they fall in love directly, but also it is a way to render atmosphere, which brings more romantic element. When they start dancing, the music becomes more ambiguous which shows up their progressive relationship. Their love has more layers which indicate they fall in love in such a short time.  
  
   The ending part of the story can be described as one of the most unique parts. Rosaline's role can be the same functions with Paris who defects their love. At the ending part, she kills Juliet because of her jealousy. She pretends to be nice to others and finds Juliet in the school, she brings Juliet to the backfield and then shows her true features, the difference best shape her characteristic which will surprise the audience since they will think Rosaline is a poor woman who can not get her love instead of a mean character. When she shows her true features and then asks Juliet to leave the relationship, the background music sounds, which is aggressive and best illustrates Rosaline's emotion. Moreover, the background music brings dangerous feeling to Juliet. She looks weak in front of Rosaline since she gets no weapons as a human. When Romeo comes and kills Rosaline, the background changes again, it becomes slow and depressive songs which indicate the emotion of a vampire loses his love. 

  The main tone is serious for the play. However, there are still some comedic elements which can attract the audience more. When Romeo tells the truth that he is a vampire, he brings a blood juice and then drinks is one cosmetic element because of Juliet's reaction. She is laughing and opens her mouths which makes her look sock by Romeo. Then, Romeo says "I'm in human diet", which can be the funniest part of our play. Moreover, the ending party is totally different, it implies more tragic element especially the background music. Juliet as one of the main characters works very well in the modern language version since she is the only human students in the play. Her identity and her conversation with her friends can work in the modernized version since she looks like a normal person who falls in love and has some trouble with her love, which makes her looks like a person who around us. Also, her active invitation to the dance is more modern, since she looks more like a girl who does things she wants instead of being sky because of the secular vision.

   Additionally, we stage the main staging in the whole school except the party scene, since we need the light and music, so we stage it in the black block. All of us are wearing causal instead of the ending scene since it is Friday in CA, and all students are wearing formal dress. The light is changing the stage change except for the party scene since when Romeo and Juliet have eye contact with each other. Also, when Romeo indicates his true features is a vampire, Juliet forgive him and shows her love to Romeo. Romeo asks her to marry him which we use the Romantic filter to create the atmosphere for them. Our background music does not only imply the situation, but also the personal emotion. For example, when Rosaline meets Romeo, the background music best shows her heartbeats to Romeo. And also, when she talks to Romeo and want to marry him, Romeo refuses her and then the background music becomes kinds of sad and indicate s the situation. "we don't talk anymore" which best foreshadowing the ending part. 

 Our group puts a lot efforts on the play not only the acting but also the editing part, we add a lot of background music to create the atmosphere. And It can attract the audience a lot since it makes the play more interesting and attracts the audience. Moreover, our group basic scripts is different since the three roles of our players are vampires which is more magical. We pay a lot of attention to details which we make our play looks more like a movie. Moreover, our party scene is the best part of our play since the light and background changes, which will be attractive. When I first edit the play and add a lot of filters and music, even though our group members feel surprised and satisfied with the play. As a result, I think the other classmates in our class can also be attractive.
