notes about "visit to a small plane"

EF’s Visit to a Small Planet: Some Questions to Ask a Play   by Elinor Fuchs

The article basically tells us how to understand a play, and the author uses "plane" "ball" to explain the way which we can understand the play better. For example, we can describe a play as a ball which is not too big or too small, because we can not only look through the entire world but also some details. it's beneficial for us since we won't lose significant points by focusing on too many details. The author uses the rhetorical question to signify what should we focus on when we read the play at first. we should think about the stage and music which affect the play a lot. Also, we should think about the background of the play, which means what form of the world the actors appear. what mood leads the play to go through. Is it violence or sad? The author indicates we should pay more attention to the change of the play when we read the play, we should ask ourselves several questions, which means we won't lose ourselves. At last but not least, the author mentions the benefits of the using these ways to read a play since it can not only make us understand more directly but also we can analysis the play better.
