summary of act1: the scene starts on the street of Verona. Since the fight between Benvolio and Tybalt causes more conflicts and attract more citizens. Prince Escalus arrives and stops the riot, he enforces the limits for violence about death. Later, Montague and his wife talk Romeo's wired behaviors with Benvolio. At this time, Romeo came in and talk about his love to Rosaline. He can not forget her. Benvolio advertises him to find a new one but he insists that Rosaline is the true love.
actual language
My naked weapon is out: quarrel
look upon thy death.
Thou shalt not stir a foot to seek a foe.
To old Free-town, our common judgment-place. Once more, on pain of death, all men depart.
Away from light steals home my heavy son
She hath, and in that sparing makes huge waste, For beauty starved with her severity
The story begins with conflicts with two main roles form two householder. it paves the way for further plots. Also, the fight metaphors the hatred between two families. The actual language from the act1 indicates the relationship between violence and death. The prince monologue as an important information illustrates that violence and death. From my perspective, these would be throughout the whole story. Then, the conversation between Montague and his wife indicates Romeo's behaviors. It shows Romeo to Rosaline's love. it is kind of drama that when Romeo faces Juliet, he forgets Rosaline and full in love with her quickly. However, when Benvolio advises him to find a new one. His monologue makes me feel Roseline is his true love. I still have a lot actual language that I do not understand and what is the purpose of the conversation between Sampson and Gregory.
sense 2
on the other side of the street, Capulet is talking with Paris. Paris asks Capulet for his daughter Juliet to marry him. Capulet says Juliet is only fourteen years old and she is too young. but he asks him to wait for two years. he will hold a feast to help him gain Juliet's heart and full in love with him. at the same time, Romeo and Benvolio are talking about the feast, Benvolio asks Romeo to go to the party and see whether there are anything pretty girls like Roseline. Romeo agrees to go but it is only because Roseline will go. he denies that he will only love Roseline again.
actual language
My will to her consent is but a
part with unattainted eye
But in that crystal scales let there be weigh’d
For your broken shin
on the second scene, it shows Paris as the person who will marry with Juliet because of her fathers' pick. Also, it shows again Romeo's love to Roseline. it gives the audience more imagination space to think about the scene when Romeo meets Juliet. For the reason, they might be more dramatical when Romeo meets Juliet and forget his love Roseline immediately. Since the scene shows how deep Romeo loves Roseline. He can go to the party because of his love. However,
sense 3
lady capulet asks the nurse to help her find her daughter. At first, she asked Peter to get away from them to have a private conversation. Later, she changed her mind. She asks Peter to wait on the other side. Before she talks, Peter was keeping telling the story about Juliet's childhood. Lady Capulet interrupts her unsuccessfully. Lady Capulet asks Juliet her feeling for marriage and tells her that Paris wants her to marry him. she askJulietiet to regard feeling of marrying. Juliet agrees to think about the decision.
we observe Juliet's perspective for marrying. she did not refuse Paris at the first. it points out that Romeo and Juliet will meet each other eventually. The scene indicates Juliet's influenced by her parents. she can marry whoever her parents pick. She has no power and no rights because of her family. However, it totally differs from Romeo. he wants to marry with the one who wants to get together. it shows their personalities. my question to the scene is: why Shakespeare write about the peter who was less educated and what is the purpose of her memories of Juliet?
scene 4
The scene establishes the conversation and a long speech between Romeo and his friend. Romeo, Benvolio and their friend Mercutio are on the way to the feast.Romeo said he wouldn't dance in the party. They think about how to enter te party since they are Montagues. Romeo thinks this is a bad idea and starts to argue. However, his friend Mercutio responds him through a long speech about Queen Mad of fairs. Romeo interrupts his dream and clams him down "peace, peace, peace" But Mercutio said everything he talks is meaningful.
You are a lover; borrow Cupid’s wings, And soar with them above a common bound.
If love be rough with you, be rough with love; Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down.
A visor for a visor!
O’er lawyers’ fingers, who straight dream on fees, O’er ladies’ lips, who straight on kisses dream,
Mercutio is the person who has totally different personality with Romeo. Differ from Romeo, he thinks all dreams will not connect with dreams. He teases Romeo's love to Roseline through an image of fairies. Romeo's speech at the ending part anticipates that the meeting between Romeo and Juliet will lead to death. Actually, I was not totally understanding the speech of Mercutio. What is his purpose to give the speech? Also, does it pave the way for following plots?
scene 5
Romeo and his friends arrive at Capulet's feast. During the time, Romeo falls in love with Juliet immediately. But at that time, Tybalt heard Romeo's voice and recognizes its from Romeo and want to kill him. Capulet reminds Tybalt of Romeo's good characteristics and keeps peace in the feast. At that time, Nurse interrupts Romeo and Juliet's kiss. Romeo asks the nurse who Juliet is and realize that Juliet is a Capulet. He recognizes the consequences of their love and leaves away with Benvolio. Later, Juliet also knows that Romeo is a Montague.

Thinking: I want to know why Romeo fall in love with Juliet so quickly. What is the purpose for Shakespeare to draw a character like that? Since he already told all of his friends his true love is Roseline. Does he really Roseline. Or it is a way to satisfy himself? How can he explain his love to Juliet?
According to the resources in the portals. There are lots of differences from today’s form of performance from Shakespeare's time.
Comparing to the stage, in Shakespeare's time, the stage wasn’t just one type of space; the same play will display in different places--- indoor or outdoor playhouse. As a result, it improves players’ connection with the audience. Moreover, men play all the roles, even though the female role. However, it is totally different nowadays. The stage is a vivid example, we have the inflexible stage which roles play all plots in the same ar4ea even though it is the different scene. Also, women started to join in the performance. We would not only see men’s performance. Sometimes, women can display the emotion better because of their experience. It also develops the diversity of stages.
Sometimes the theaters and palaces effect a lot because of the light. When there is an indoor- performance. They need to use artificial lights----like today. Shakespeare's company planned for years to operate its own indoor theaters.
The audience experiences is also a way for us to compare. Usually, the players in Shakespeare's day paid a penny to stand in a playhouse. Sometimes, two pennies were provided for a balcony seat. Moreover, fashionable men could get a seat on the side of the stage for two shillings. However, today’s theater totally differs from Shakespeare time. One person has their personal position which is fixed.

quetos: “He jests at scars that never felt a wound.”
thoughts: there is an important role coming in these scenes----Friar. He as one of the important role who paves the way for the marriage of Romeo and Juliet influences all the plots in the further plots. what is his purpose to help Romeo and Juliet?
