Blog #4 due Saturday by 11pm.
At the beginning of the plot, Romeo as one of the dramatic role who uses poetic language to explain his love to Roseline. His love to Roseline is fanatic----he refused Benvolio's suggestions to meet more girls in the party. His speech for Roseline's love can be a vivid example, he mentioned that ““Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs”, it indicates that he lives in a world which is consisted with love instead of power. he even doesn't care the fights between two families. However, in my opinion, he is the person who enjoys the time that he falls in love with someone instead of loving the person. To be more specific, he loves the feeling of love. For the reason, after I read all his speech of Roseline. His love for Roseline is from imagination. For example, the sentences “She will not stay the siege of loving terms, O, she is rich in beauty, only poor That, when she dies, with beauty dies her store.” explains that his respect and imagination to the women. However, he does not even know any other things about Roseline such as her habits and her true personality. As a result, it also shows his impulsive and immature. For the reason, he refused his cousin’s suggestions to meet a new girl because of a person who he does not really know. His love to Roseline is a lie to himself. As a result, even though he is intelligent and handsome, I still do not like the personality of the role at the first time because of his immature. I do not respect him at first especially when he meets Juliet and fall in love with her immediately. However, he gives a long speech to express his love to Roseline at the first scene. Moreover, he even does not know what is love at first, but he identified that Roseline is his true love. if he really loves her, he will never say " “O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!" when he meets Juliet in the party.
Juliet,
I like Juliet who is a tragic figure in the story. from my perspective, she is a person who is pretending to obey her parents. However, she is a person who owns strength inside her heart. when she says" I'll look to like, if looking like move." it indicates that she only obey her parents apparently. However, she would like to change the situation which her parents arrange anything for her. Moreover, she is the opposite person with Romeo. For the reason, she has no close friends. The only person who has the closest relationship with her is her nurse. Also, she is more sensible than Romeo. Comparing their reaction when their relatives tell them to marry or meet another person. They react as totally different way. Romeo refused it directly. However, Juliet pretends to think about the suggestions. I admire the role because of her inner power. For the reason, after she falls in love with Romeo, she defies her parents and refuses to marry Paris. She threatens her parents through public shame. What's more, she is the person who devotes a lot because of love. Juliet is a silent role in the beginning of the play since she holds the situation which is far away from people. She even has no rights to decide her own life. Everything of her has been arranged by her parents. From my perspective, it is brave of her to get her rights back from her parents because of Romeo.
In conclusion, comparing these two roles. I like Juliet better since she is more mature. Moreover, I really admire her because she changes a lot for another person and eventually realizes to get her rights back in order to have her own life.
